It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Probably one of the most iconic Halloween movies is this animated classic. Watch the whole Peanuts gang as they celebrate Halloween in their own way. Bossy Lucy leads tricks-or-treats and the party, poor Charlie Brown gets some more rocks, Snoopy has yet another fight with the Red Baron, and Linus and Sally spend their whole night in a pumpkin patch waiting for The Great Pumpkin. The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horrors

The Simpsons have amazing Halloween episodes and this DVD contains several of them. It includes the Treehouse of Horrors episodes from seasons 5, 6, 7, and 12. Why those numbers? Why not? If you're a die hard fan you may just want to wait for the seasons to come out, but it you just want the Halloween episodes, or if you can't wait, this collection is for you. Rated: NR

Hocus Pocus

Disney created a very good Halloween adventure that the whole family can enjoy. Three witches from Salem are hanged for stealing the life of a little girl many years ago. In the present, on Halloween night, they are inadvertently summoned back and are trying to regain their former power. However, three determined kids are trying to stop them and must prevent them form stealing new lives until the night is over. The movie stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Thora Birch. Rated: PG, 96 minutes, widescreen, 1993.

Halloween - 25th Anniversary Edition

An updated version of John Carpenter's original classic. It's a bad time to be a teenager on Halloween in Haddonfield, Illinois. A mask-wearing lunatic is on a killing spree trying to off all the teenagers by stabbing them with a knife. Although the movie was produced with a low budget, it did very well at the box office. Stars Jamie Lee Curtis. Rated: R, 91 minutes, widescreen, 1978.

Garfield Holiday Celebrations

Garfield's Holiday Celebrations contains the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas episodes that you often see on TV near their respective seasons. Upon hearing it's Halloween Garfield gets ready for the night. He and Odie out on an evening trick-or-treating in their neighborhood. They meet strange and scary things, but at the end of the night they get lost and find a spooky old house where pirates buried their treasure 100 years ago, only to come back from the grave to get it. Stars Lorenzo Music. Rated: PG, 90 minutes, 1990.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Special Edition

Who could make a Christmas movie into a Halloween movie? Tim Burton, of course. See the nightmare digitally restored with plenty of bonus features. Watch Jack Skellington, a resident of Halloweentown, try to discover the riddle of Christmas. The entire movie is done using stop animation with clay. This film is a cult classic for adults, and a nice frightener for children. It's also a love story and a sing-a-long. The special edition DVD has commentary, deleted scenes, and the making of. Rated: PG, 76 minutes, 2000.

Halloween - H2O

It has been 20 years since that fateful Halloween. We haven't heard from Laurie Strode since, but now she's back. It turns out she faked her death and changed her identity. She is now the headmistress of an exclusive California private school still trying to forget the horror of her brother Michael Myers. The fans seemed to appreciate this movie more than the earlier sequels. There are plenty of knife wounds and blood to go around. Stars Jamie Lee Curtis. Rated: R, 86 minutes, widescreen, 1998.

The Witches

The Witches is a classic movie based off of Roald Dahl's book of the same name. With creative effects and puppetry from the Jim Henson Corporation this movie creates a wonderful story for children. A young boy named Luke is told about evil witches and their desire to rid the world of children. With his grandmother's help, he must devise a way to stop them before they turn all the children into mice. It even has a nice cameo appearance of Rowan Atkinson. Stars Anjelica Huston. Rated: PG, 91 minutes, 1990.

Practical Magic

This is a story about a family of witches with a long history of magic and persecution. They live a very warm life with each other, but the outsiders don't understand their way of life. One of the witches gets in a jam with an abusive boyfriend and creates a tense situation for the family with the police. The movie creates a good sense of family and feminine power which made it a hit at theaters. Stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. Rated: PG-13, 104 minutes, widescreen, 1998.

The Craft

Join four teenage women who are learning about the world of witchcraft while trying to hide the fact from their parents and school mates. They use their new found powers for money, love, revenge and good looks, just the thing you would expect from a bunch of teenage girls. The four main characters are young and angst-ridden, just the type of people who the movie is targeted towards. Stars Neve Campbell and Fairuza Balk. Rated: R, 101 minutes, widescreen, 1996.

The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

This DVD is a collection of two short films for children, The Wind in the Willows and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. While the former is a good movie in its own right, the real Halloween fun comes from the latter. Join Ichabod a superstitious school teacher who travels to Sleepy Hollow. He's never heard the legend of a headless horseman, but he's about to find out. Narrator Bing Crosby offers great voice acting and songs to this short film. Even though it's rated G, the ending can be quite scary to younger viewers. Rated: G, 69 minutes, 1949.

Roseanne: Halloween Edition

One of the best television shows to produce spectacular Halloween episodes was Roseanne. This collection offers all of the festive episodes (excluding season 9) on one DVD with bonus commentary from Roseanne for Season 4. Relive all the great thrills and chills from the show and watch the family physically age over the years, but still remain children at heart. Rated: NR, 2006.

Saturday Night Live - Halloween

All the best early SNL Halloween skits hosted by Wayne and Garth. Includes all your favorite SNL cast members as far back as Dan Aykroyd, up to the more recent Cheri Oteri. Some of the skits include Gay Dracula, Vampire Dating, Consumer Probe, Wayne's World, Spartan Cheerleaders, and many others. A great compilation for anyone who loves SNL. Rated: NR, 60 minutes, 2000.

50 Horror Classics

This box set of 12 DVDs contains all the old horror flicks that you can remember. It has the cult movies, the movies that started the genre, and all the classics. Watch the bad special effects, marvel at the incredibly tame gore scenes, and almost be afraid of the evil monsters. The makers of this DVD didn't bother trying to restore the films, so they'll be just as grainy and choppy as you remember. Still, fifty movies is quite a collection and if you enjoyed the old black and white horror movies you'll love this.
