Challenge of the Dragon had two different releases on the NES, but both are completely different games. One was developed by Color Dreams and the other was developed by Sachen. It was programmed by Dan Lawton (founder of Color Dreams), composed by John Dwyer with graphics by Dan Burke. The game takes place in the Land of Lorin. You play as Sir Burkelot (named after the graphic designer Dan Burke). The evil wizard Demiwind has taken your girlfriend Lady Ninita (named after Nina Stanley) and you must foil his evil plans and save the princess. The game has identical gameplay to Operation Secret Storm because they use the same game engine.

Instrument Information

The source code gives the addresses of some of the music and sound information. The game has only a few instruments: Harpsichord, Strings, Electric Piano, Slider, Bee, Piano and Arcade. This is also one of the two Color Dreams games to use percussion. The numbers for the first address represents the duty cycles; 00 (12.5%), 40 (25%), 80 (50%), C0 (75%). The second address can be changed from 00, C9, D6 and FF. These will change the game's hardware sweeps (pitch slides). The slider and arcade instruments were never used in Color Dreams' games. They are located in the ROM editor section of the game's ROM, rather than the RAM. The addresses are exactly the same as Operation Secret Storm.
