Commander Keen Games

For many years scrolling platform games existed solely on console systems and it wasn't until id Software released Commander Keen that you'd find one in DOS. Although the colors still used the ugly EGA palette, Commander Keen gave actual scrolling action to the PC fans who had been longing for it for some time. Aside from being a technical achievement, Commander Keen was also a pretty cool game. While playing through the Commander Keen series you'd keep coming across these strange symbols in the background. It wasn't until you found the translator that you could actually read them and discover what they all meant. While the typeset is not all that imaginative, the idea added some replay value to the game.
