Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the purpose of the Game Font Database?

A: To provide the world with an easy-to-navigate repository for fonts relating to games.

Q: Is this just for videogames?

A: No. Any font relating to videogames, boardgames, card games, or any other kind of games will be found here.

Q: Are all of these fonts free?

A: It is assumed that all the fonts on this site are free. However, since this is not a pirate organization, we do not want to distribute any fonts that are not free. If you are the copyright holder of a font seen on this site and you would like it removed just email us with information proving you own the font and we will remove it.

Q: How do I install these fonts?

A: Open the ZIP file and copy the font file into your C:\Windows\Fonts folder or C:\WINNT\Fonts folder. Then, open up whatever program you type in and select the font in the list.

Q: I've installed the font, but it doesn't show up in the font list.

A: Open your C:\Windows\Fonts folder to make sure the font was installed. Check the name of the font; sometimes the name gets changed when you install a font. Older fonts that have a FON extension may not be supported in your program. FON can be used in MS Paint.

Q: How does the layout work?

A: The A-Z Game List contains a list of every game that we have a font for. When you choose a game you are directed to the game's series page which has fonts from every game in that game's series. For example, if you choose the Legend of Zelda 3: A Link to the Past, you're taken to the Legend of Zelda series page which has fonts from every Legend of Zelda game. From there you can download every font in the Legend of Zelda series or just the fonts from the games that you want.

Q: Did you make all of these fonts?

A: No. This font collection is made possible through the hard work of many different people. Each font's creator will be listed in the description of the font in order to give proper credit.

Q: Could you PLEASE give me the font to game XYZ?

A: If the font is not on this site, and if you can't find it on Google, then no. Making a font is a very time-consuming process requiring artistic and technical skill. However, you may try looking up an artist from a font you like and asking them if they'll make the font for you.

Q: I know of a game font you don't have, will you post it?

A: Absolutely! We're always looking for more game fonts to add in order to make this site the most complete game font page on the Internet. Just email it to me.
