Nintendo Entertainment System
The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is the first console game system that Nintendo released in the USA in August, 1985.
Several amazing games were released for the system including:
Super Mario Brothers 1-3
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1-3
The NES consisted of a Motorola 6502 processor running at 1.79 MHz, and a PPU (Picture Processing Unit) which created 8-bit graphics. The resolution was 256x240 with a
total of 52 colors, but only 16 on the screen at once, and only 4 per sprite. A maximum number of 64 sprites, 8 per line could be displayed, and sprite tiles could be 8x8 or
8x16. The system had 2KB of RAM and 2KB of video RAM.
Over the years the system sold over 60 million units worldwide.
