Middle-earth Middle-earth is a fictional world created by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is the location where many of his stories take place. Middle-earth is actually the continent of Endor in the full Tolkien world of Arda. Middle-earth is sized and setup so that it fits over parts of Eurasia and Africa on Earth. This was done on purpose, because the Tolkien's stories were meant to exist as a history for the European area. Middle-earth has a long and detailed history spanning much more than just the time period in the Lord of the Rings books.
