Matthew Akbar Groening was born on February 15th, 1954 to parents Homer and Marge. He grew up in Portland, Oregon where he would often doodle in class instead of paying
attention, but he was able to graduate from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, in 1977.
After graduating he moved to Los Angeles, California and held many odd jobs. He began writing the Life In Hell comic series which first appeared in newspapers in 1980. By
1987 his first cartoon shorts appeared during The Tracey Ullman Show and by December, 1989, The Simpsons first appeared as it's own show.
Later, in 1999, his next hit television series series Futurama aired.
