Amtgard is a large boffer society. Its rulebook includes various "classes" with abilities and magic, but a lot of its activities are just simple boffer combat. (for some reason the term "boffer" is not liked in Amtgard, and used to refer to poor quality foam weapons).
Amtgard tends heavily towards light and ultralight weapons, while at the same time being comparatively far stricter on armor requirements (deducting points for appearance, construction and/or materials).
